If you receive a Notice of Controversion of Right to Controversion (LS-207), your benefits are being denied by the adjuster.  If you receive a Notice of Payments (LS-208), it may be because compensation is being suspended or a different class of benefits are now being paid. 

Decisions to deny benefits or suspend benefits are made by an adjuster handling your Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act claim.  For them, it may mean clicking a button on their computer.  One mundane act made several times a day in a caseload of a multitude of claims.  For the injured worker, it may mean no income or benefits from which to pay for the necessities of life such as food, shelter, utilities or the birthday gift for a child.
